Best time to visit Honolulu

United States · 20-year averages

Honolulu has no real season. The best month scores 81 and the worst 69, a spread of just 12 points, so the honest answer to "when should I go" is whenever the flights are cheapest. 10 of the twelve months sit within ten points of the best, so there is more than one right answer.

September is the warmest month at 28.6 °C and February the coolest at 24.6 °C — a 4 °C spread across the year.

There is a real wet season here. October to December carry the rain — up to 17 wet days in a month — while January, May, June, July and August drop as low as 10. That 7-day gap is the biggest single difference between a good month and a bad one in Honolulu, and it moves further than the temperature does.

The sea never drops below 23.7 °C, so swimming is on the table year round. Daylight runs from 10.8 hours in winter to 13.4 in summer, enough to notice on a sightseeing itinerary.

The three strongest months are May, January, June. The one to think twice about is October. Each month below has its own page with rainfall reliability, extremes, daylight, sea temperature and crowd levels.
