Best time to visit Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Spain · 20-year averages

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has no real season. The best month scores 100 and the worst 86, a spread of just 14 points, so the honest answer to "when should I go" is whenever the flights are cheapest. 11 of the twelve months sit within ten points of the best, so there is more than one right answer.

September is the warmest month at 24.3 °C and February the coolest at 18.7 °C — a 5.6 °C spread across the year. It never reaches 30 °C in an average year, which takes heat off the list of reasons to avoid any particular month.

There is a real wet season here. February, October, November and December carry the rain — up to 6 wet days in a month — while May to August drop as low as 0. That 6-day gap is the biggest single difference between a good month and a bad one in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and it moves further than the temperature does.

The sea is comfortable for swimming in June to November — 23.9 °C at its warmest against 18.8 °C at its coldest. The water peaks a month or two after the air does, so the best swimming falls later in the year than the best weather. Daylight runs from 10.4 hours in winter to 13.9 in summer, enough to notice on a sightseeing itinerary.

The three strongest months are June, July, May. The one to think twice about is February. Each month below has its own page with rainfall reliability, extremes, daylight, sea temperature and crowd levels.
