Weather in Las Vegas in June

United States · 20-year averages, June

The month to avoid. June is the month most people should skip in Las Vegas. Daytime highs average 39.3 °C and the afternoon is not negotiable — outdoor plans move to early morning or evening.

June ranks 10 of 12 — near the bottom of Las Vegas's year. April is the month that works, and the swing between the two is 67 points, which is a different holiday rather than a slightly better one.

Rain is not a factor worth planning around this month. Pack for heat management rather than style: shade, water, and a schedule that gives up on the middle of the day.

What the averages hide

Averages flatten a month, and this one hides a few things: 26 days of the month clear 35 °C — that is not a heatwave, it is the month; the day swings 17.2 °C from low to high, which means one bag has to cover both. Across the twenty years measured, the hottest June day reached 47.8 °C and the coldest night fell to 11.8 °C.

June is dependably dry, and that reliability is the point: across the twenty years measured, the wettest June on record still only managed 5 mm, and the driest managed 0 mm. There is no meaningful variability to plan around, which makes this one of the few months anywhere that you can build a fixed outdoor itinerary against without a fallback. The wettest single day in twenty years of Junes brought 2 mm. Rain simply is not the variable that decides this trip — heat, crowds and cost are.

Wind is light at 10.9 km/h, so the temperature on the page is close to the temperature on your skin, and the air is dry at 14% humidity, which makes the heat far more bearable than the same figure somewhere humid — and dehydrates you faster than you expect.

How June sits in the year

The month is on the way up: 6.7 °C warmer than May, and July adds another 2.2 °C. Late in the month feels noticeably different from the start of it, which is worth knowing if the trip is short.

Daylight in June

June is at or near the longest days of Las Vegas's year: 14.6 hours of daylight, holding steady all month. Evenings are the real gain — dinner outdoors still happens in full light.

An inland climate

With no coast nearby, the year swings a fair way — 38.7 °C between the warmest afternoons and the coldest nights, wider than any coastal city at this latitude would manage. Within June itself the daily swing is 17.2 °C, so mornings and afternoons need different clothes.

How busy it gets

Off season. The genuine off season: cheapest by a distance, with the caveat that some tours and restaurants close entirely.

Crowd levels are estimated from climate desirability and school-holiday calendars, not from visitor numbers.

June in Las Vegas versus nearby

If Las Vegas is one option among several, the nearby comparison is worth making. Riverside is a better bet in June — 6 °C cooler, the same number of rain days. Sedona is a better bet in June — 5.2 °C cooler, 1 day more rain.

So: June is a compromise. April is 67 points better and is what Las Vegas is actually like at its best — worth moving the trip for if that is possible, and worth adjusting expectations for if it is not.
