Best time to visit Manali

India · 20-year averages

Manali is a city of two halves. January scores 89 and July scores 34 — a 55-point swing, which is the difference between a holiday and an endurance test. The month you pick matters more here than almost anywhere. The good window runs January to February — 2 months within ten points of the best.

May is the warmest month at 36.7 °C and December the coolest at 27.9 °C — a 8.8 °C spread across the year. 258 days a year top 30 °C, more than a third of the calendar, so heat is the baseline here rather than a season.

There is a real wet season here. July to November carry the rain — up to 20 wet days in a month — while January to April drop as low as 1. That 19-day gap is the biggest single difference between a good month and a bad one in Manali, and it moves further than the temperature does.

The sea never drops below 26.8 °C, so swimming is on the table year round. Daylight barely moves: about 12.9 hours whatever the month, which removes one variable from the decision entirely.

The three strongest months are January, February, December. The one to think twice about is July. Each month below has its own page with rainfall reliability, extremes, daylight, sea temperature and crowd levels.
