Best time to visit Pekanbaru

Indonesia · 20-year averages

Pekanbaru has no real season. The best month scores 47 and the worst 43, a spread of just 4 points, so the honest answer to "when should I go" is whenever the flights are cheapest. The good window runs January to December — 12 months within ten points of the best.

March is the warmest month at 29.7 °C and December the coolest at 28.7 °C — a 1 °C spread across the year. Around 110 days a year top 30 °C, concentrated in March and the months either side.

There is a real wet season here. April and November carry the rain — up to 28 wet days in a month — while February, June, July and August drop as low as 17. That 11-day gap is the biggest single difference between a good month and a bad one in Pekanbaru, and it moves further than the temperature does.

Daylight barely moves: about 12.2 hours whatever the month, which removes one variable from the decision entirely.

The three strongest months are January, December, June. The one to think twice about is May. Each month below has its own page with rainfall reliability, extremes, daylight and crowd levels.
