Weather in Srinagar in June

India · 20-year averages, June

A good month. June works. It is not the peak, but nothing about it fights you. Highs average 30.3 °C, lows 17.8 °C, and rain falls on 11 days — nothing in the month is working against you.

June ranks 8 of 12 in Srinagar: past the worst of the year but short of October, which is the month to book if the dates are open.

Rain on 11 days, 1 of them heavy. Enough to need a plan B, not enough to need a plan around it. Pack for 30.3 °C days and 17.8 °C nights; the spread matters more here than any single number.

What the averages hide

Averages flatten a month, and this one hides a few things: 17 days top 30 °C — hot spells arrive, but they break. Across the twenty years measured, the hottest June day reached 39 °C and the coldest night fell to 12.3 °C, and the wettest single day dropped 64 mm — roughly 110% of the month's rain in one day.

June is moderately variable: 9 mm in the driest year against 132 mm in the wettest, around an average of 58 mm. Roughly two Junes in three land near that average, and the third does something else entirely.

Wind is light at 5.6 km/h, so the temperature on the page is close to the temperature on your skin, and humidity is unremarkable at 51%.

How June sits in the year

Temperatures hold steady either side: 26.5 °C in May, 30.3 here, 31.8 in July. Nothing about the timing within the month matters much.

Daylight in June

June is at or near the longest days of Srinagar's year: 14.4 hours of daylight, holding steady all month. Evenings are the real gain — dinner outdoors still happens in full light.

An inland climate

With no coast nearby, the year swings a fair way — 32.2 °C between the warmest afternoons and the coldest nights, wider than any coastal city at this latitude would manage. At 1589 m, altitude is doing as much work here as latitude: thinner air means fierce sun by day and heat that leaves the moment it sets.

How busy it gets

Quiet. Few other visitors, cheaper rooms, and a real chance some seasonal operators are shut.

Crowd levels are estimated from climate desirability and school-holiday calendars, not from visitor numbers.

June in Srinagar versus nearby

If Srinagar is one option among several, the nearby comparison is worth making. Leh is a better bet in June — 10.6 °C cooler, 5 days less rain. Ludhiana is the weaker option in June — 12 °C warmer, the same number of rain days.

So: June is a compromise. October is 26 points better and is what Srinagar is actually like at its best — worth moving the trip for if that is possible, and worth adjusting expectations for if it is not.
